Dragster Cars

Dragster cars are built to run very fast for very short distances. Usually they run side by side against each other at a dragstrip, trying to cover a quarter mile in under ten seconds. When the light turns green, the cars “peel rubber” (spin their tires) and race each other — and the clock — to see how fast they can go.

Dragster cars come in many different types. The ones that can be driven on the road are called “street stocks”. Others are modified, with bigger engines just for drag racing. These include “funny cars” and Top Fuel dragsters, which are extremely fast. Jet engines have even been mounted inside special dragster cars and trucks, which blast off quickly from the starting line with a big roar.
