Helicopters

Helicopters, also known as “choppers”, are used for many things. Small ones have just one or two seats, while large ones can carry many people and lift heavy objects. Special military helicopters are also used to carry troops, and to attack enemy forces.

The helicopter’s spinning rotor blade helps lift it off the ground. A smaller rotor on the tail helps in steering. Helicopters can land and take off from almost anywhere, if they have a flat place and enough room for their rotor blade. They are also able to hover (stay in the same place), and even fly backward!
